These are from a series of
sculptures being created by Norma Jean for the multimedia
cultural exhibit which will go on tour to major cities
around the world. The final series, which she anticipates
will take years to complete, will include sculptures of all
types of sex workers and their clients, from many countries
and cultures, in various settings. These figures, all
Barbie-doll sized, are sculpted out of paperclay- a
non-toxic volcanic ash mixture, over an armature of plastic
and wire.

Group portrait of the lap dancer and
her disabled client, a transgender
prostitute with Eddie Murphy, and a
prostitute who will be sitting in a window
in Amsterdam.

Police Officer in jail cell - when complete, the
jail cell will house several notorious prostitutes
and madams who were arrested and (in some cases)
incarcerated for prostitution related 'crimes.'

Eddie Murphy and my interpretation of the
transgender prostitute he was 'helping' by
'offering a ride home' at four in the morning! When
completed, the Eddie doll will be seated in a red
convertible car parked on Hollywood Blvd.

Close up of the prostitute who will be
sitting in a window in Amsterdam, legally plying
her trade. The model for this doll was an actress
from the New York Broadway play, "The Life," who
consented to the use of her likeness.

Often used as an excuse to keep
prostitution illegal is the argument that
some prostitutes may be the victim of abuse,
either at the hands of their 'pimp' or a 'john.' Of
course, there is just as much if not more abuse
within marriages and other 'non-professional'
relationships, as is witnessed by the numerous
scandals in the tabloids like the "Star" and
"Enquirer." Each week, a movie or TV star is being
accused of violence against his partner....and of
course, there is the O.J. situation.... Still, no
one would suggest that marriage be prohibited as a
way to protect women from domestic
violence!

Lap Dancer with disabled client. Sometimes,
sex workers are the only companionship that
disabled men have. Often, disabled men are not
thought of by their families as having any sexual
interest or needs. Nothing could be further from
the truth. Sexual desire is biological, it is
healthy and it is normal. To deny sexual pleasure
via sex workers to disabled men who cannot
otherwise engage in 'loving' relationships is cruel
and immoral!

Phone sex operator 'Jade' earning a
living which allows her to stay at home
and take care of her young daughter. This
is a sample of the settings for each of
the figures. All the miniature art work on
the walls and books on the bookshelves are
reproductions of whore art and books.
Naturally, all of my sex workers are
well-read.
